Wall Colmonoy is a leading global materials engineering group of companies, involved in the manufacturing of surfacing and brazing products, castings, coatings and engineered components for the aerospace, automotive, glass container, oil and gas, mining, power and energy and other industry sectors.
The name of the company comes from the metallurgists that developed the first nickel-based hardfacing alloy in 1937 – Norman Cole and Walter Edmonds – and the man who purchased the Colmonoy patent the following year and, A F Wall.
The American company relocated its European headquarters to Pontardawe in 1969. Over 50 years, the facility has grown from 33,000 to 70,000 sq. ft. and boasts a state-of-the-art chemistry and R&D laboratory and an advanced machine shop.
Dr Chris Weirman, Technical Director, believes that Neath Port Talbot Council will be a key player when it comes to their future plans.
