Harbourside

The impressive Harbourside project has involved the redevelopment of Port Talbot’s former docks quarter, transforming it into a knowledge-focused commercial hub providing inward investment opportunities and highly-skilled jobs.

Access to Harbourside is via Harbour Way, a new peripheral distributor road that provides a 5-minute direct link from junction 38 of the M4. Port Talbot Parkway railway station is just a short walk away with direct high-speed links to Swansea, Cardiff and London. The station was redeveloped in 2016 and is the centrepiece of a transport hub that brings together rail, bus, taxi, bike and pedestrian facilities in a safe modern environment.

The 42,000 sq. ft. R&D village at Harbourside has already attracted global manufacturers such as Tata Steel and TWI. The Grade II listed building that was the former magistrates court has been transformed into high-spec office space.

The next phase of regeneration will include a £2.7 million package of remediation of brownfield land, construction of access roads, upgrading of existing highways and flood mitigation measures in a 3-hectare area adjacent to Port Talbot Parkway Station, in preparation for commercial development. In addition, the Neath Port Talbot Group of Colleges has been given provisional Welsh Government approval for a new £28 million campus.
